Women’s uneven bars: the flights and struggle of a lifetime

Always exercise responsibly and safely. Ideally under the guidance of a trained fitness and/or medical professional, who can match the exercise or sports regimen to your present level of fitness.

The uneven bars or asymmetric bars are an artistic gymnastics apparatus that feature as an event only in women’s competition.

In this video, high-flying athletes and coaches from across generations describe the struggle to achieve “perfection” in the uneven bars, as well as the discipline and focus required for mastery.

They also discuss the difficult topic of austere gymnastic culture, body-shaming and eating disorders, and how diverse body types are now excelling across gymnastics.
