Ayrshire venue to host Glasgow band as part of national revival of live music industry

An Ayrshire venue is to play host to a national tour which supports the revival of the live music industry.

Scotland on Tour, an exciting initiative to support the recovery of the hard-hit live music scene will return to Ayr when Samson Sounds come to town.

The Glasgow-based band will play reimagined venue the Printhouse, formerly Furys, on Friday, October 7.

They will be on of more than 120 artists who will take to stages as the industry continues to bounce back from a two-year Covid shutdown.

Known for their unique stage presence, the band are heavily influenced by the Jamaican born UK Sound System culture, first brought to the UK in the 1970s and 1980s.

The four-piece aim to create ‘positive dance floor vibrations’ with their eclectic mix of West African, Latin music and Scottish culture.

Printhouse venue bosses at Beatox Leisure say the gig will come at a perfect time after relaunching the Nile Court events space in July.

A spokesperson for Beatbox Leisure, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Scotland on Tour, and very thankful for the opportunity to host such an incredibly talented band on our stage.

“The Scotland on Tour initiative has been a great resource whilst navigating the re-launch of Printhouse (formerly Furys) after a two-year closure. The addition of Samson Sounds to our October line up is very exciting for us.

“We can't wait to hear their vibrant and unique sound on our stage and see them live in action in Ayr.”

Anders Rigg from Samson Sounds said: "It’s great to be back on the road thanks to Scotland on Tour.

“We’re delighted to be performing at Printhouse this October, we hope everyone is ready for a really fun night.”

Scotland on Tour is set to run between April 2022 and 2023 at more than 100 venues across the country.

The project was made possible thanks to £750,000 of funding from the Scottish Government and focuses on increasing the number of opportunities to showcase and enjoy live music, while bringing exciting acts to the doorstep of city, towns, villages and rural communities.
