Boris Johnson ignores pleas from young Tory staffers to investigate 'date rape' MP

Boris Johnson has ignored a plea from young Tory staffers to investigate claims sex pest MPs are stalking Parliament.

The 36 aides to MPs wrote to the PM after last week’s Sunday Mirror allegation that a senior Tory had plied four victims with date rape drugs.

We did not name the MP but the group knew his identity.

Henry Dixon-Clegg and Angus McVean, both 22, formed the Conservative Staffers for Change group and recruited others.

They then fired off letters to Mr Johnson, Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle and Tory chair Oliver Dowden, demanding such allegations are “properly investigated” and not treated as “mere gossip”.

They wrote: “In any other workplace things would never have been allowed to get this bad.” Commons insiders say more claims about the MP have emerged this week.

Mr Dixon-Clegg, aide to Tory MP Sir Desmond Swayne, said: “This has been going on far too long, but it was the Sunday Mirror article which prompted us to act.”

Mr McVean, Parliamentary assistant to former Northern Ireland Secretary Karen Bradley, added: “For staff to feel safe, we have to know predators are not walking about freely.”

On Friday, the group was called to a 30-minute meeting with Tory Chief Whip Chris Heaton-Harris.

Mr Dixon-Clegg said: “What we expected was a response from No10. We are still waiting for it.”

A spokesman for the Chief Whip said he had “made clear he cannot act on anonymous speculation”.

In last week’s report we told of claims a Tory had used a date rape drug on a colleague who woke to find his nipples being licked.

We have now been told the incident took place at the 2004 Bournemouth party conference when both were candidates.

The man is also alleged to have drugged three other people.

Another unnamed Tory is on bail over allegations including rape.
