Boy, 16, ‘chased & knifed to death’ in double murder – with heartbroken mum visiting scene where he was killed every day

A DEVASTATED mum has been visiting the scene where he teen son was chased and knifed to death in a double murder every day, neighbours say.

Charlie Bartolo, 16, was fatally stabbed just a mile away from where Kearne Solanke, also 16, was killed on Saturday evening in South East London.

Police have confirmed the stabbings are linked, with a 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of their murders.

Charlie's heartbroken mum collapsed with grief at the scene in Sewell Road, Abbey Wood, on Sunday.

A woman who lives near the scene claimed cops told her the youngster was run off his motorbike, chased, kicked and stabbed four times.

She said she knew Charlie, who she described as a "lovely little kid", when he was around 12 years old.

The woman, who did want to be named, said: "It's brutal, I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy, it’s disgusting.

“The police have said he (Charlie) was riding his bike and someone rammed into him, he tried to get up and run and they kicked him and stabbed him four times.

“It’s one thing to run someone off their bike, but then to kick him and stab him to death is disgusting.

“There’s kids always going up and down this road, it’s a long stretch of road so on a motorbike it’s a good stretch. So yeah, he could have been coming around here, he lives locally.

“Bless him, he had his whole life ahead of him.

“My neighbours found him, they’re traumatised, they haven’t slept."

Horrified witnesses of the Abbey Wood stabbing watched on as paramedics rushed to help Charlie, but he could not be saved.

A Good Samaritan took in the devastated mum of the victim after seeing her collapse.

The neighbour said Charlie's grief-stricken mum has been visiting the scene every day since.

She added: "She was here a few times yesterday, people have been coming to lay flowers every day.

“I hope they catch someone just for justice for their two mums, and their families who have lost their kids for so long.

“I knew Charlie four or five years ago, that was the last time I saw him.

“He was a lovely little kid, really nice, really polite."

Meanwhile, Kearne Solanke was stabbed to death just a mile away in Titmuss Avenue, Thamesmead -  with cops alerted just after 5pm.

A heartbreaking picture shows the teen beaming with his 16th birthday cake just months before he was killed in the double stabbing.

After the arrest was made over the killings, Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn said: "This is a positive development in what is a complex and fast-moving investigation. Charlie and Kearne’s families have been informed.

"Our investigation is ongoing and we continue to appeal for the public’s help as we build a picture of what happened on Saturday night. If you have information, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, please come forward."
