A man was arrested after numerous related incidents on the Isle of Skye and another nearby island. One person was killed and others may have been injured in the incident.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with his three alleged incidents involving firearms and knives.
Two were in Skye and his other was in neighboring Dorney.
One of them injured a woman and one was feared dead, but police have yet to confirm if there were any fatalities.
Ian Blackford, MP from Isle of Skye said: 16}
" We have heard that one person was killed and three injured.
"There are reasons for firearms regulations and can lessons be learned from this incident?" A review of this incident is required to see if the situation is under control.
Blackford, lSNP Westminster leader representing Ross, Skye and Lochaber, added: "Today is a very sad day.
"This is very disturbing news and my thoughts are with all those affected.

A spokesman for the Scottish Police said: Regarding Skye and Dorney being linked.
"A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. At this stage, we believe the situation is under control and poses no danger to the wider community.
