Celebrity MasterChef’s Jimmy Bullard finally reveals reason behind mysterious black gloves that ‘freaked out’ viewers

EX-footballer and Soccer AM host Jimmy Bullard got stuck into life in the Celebrity MasterChef kitchen - but it wasn't always his cooking that got viewers talking.

The cheeky-chappy could be seen wearing a pair of black latex gloves that looked a bit sinister to some fans, who claimed they were "freaked out" by them.

But the reason behind the 'mysterious' hand-wear is much less dramatic than the imaginations of those speculating on their sofas.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Jimmy said: "One, I done a lot of filleting with fish and it helps ya grip the fish, and two, ya nice and clean."

Jimmy made it to the semi-finals of the latest series, but a couple of his meals didn't sit quite right with viewers, notably his twist on a classic mussels recipe in which he added goats cheese, and a lamb dish that proved a bit too rare for their liking.

But he relished the chance to cook for show hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace.

"I love my food, and as soon as I got asked to go on that I knew that was a tap in," said Jimmy.

"My agent phoned me, I went 'shut up, I'm in'. My dad's always been a cook, see, being a publican himself. I lived in a pub as a young kid, upstairs obviously, my granddad was a publican, so being brought up in a pub around food and being a semi landlord myself, brilliant, absolutely love it."

Last week Jimmy temporarily became the landlord of The Colonel's Arms - the only pub that you can get KFC delivered straight to your table.

For one week only, the traditional pub, reimagined by KFC, enabled World Cup fans to watch a game with beer and chicken aplenty.

Jimmy said: "We've decided to open up The Colonel Arms, which is a pub surrounded by KFC, it's brilliant. There's massive screens to watch the football and you can get a pint delivered to your table, which is very unique. You've got darts, classic games, a VIP area, it's TV screened up to the eyeballs. It's just an awesome place to go and watch your football, have a pint with your mates and get some chicken as you do, you know."

KFC Delivery celebrated its launch by inviting fans to visit the first-ever KFC Delivery pub, The Colonel’s Arms. For those who were not able to make it, KFC Delivery is available nationwide, just download the app or visit https://www.kfc.co.uk/order-online.
