Conquer your Super Saturday hangover without breaking the bank with our tips

BRITAIN’S biggest hangover is happening right NOW.

After four gruelling months without our favourite boozers, yesterday was a historic moment — filled with pub grub and long-awaited pints.

Soup-er nice: According to the NHS website, bouillon soup (a vegetable-based broth) is great for a fragile stomach to digest. It is a good source of minerals and vitamins to boost your system back up.

You can get a tub of Marigold Swiss Bouillon Vegetable Powder for £1.99 at Holland and Barrett. Or you can try making your own. I found an easy recipe online.

All-in-one: If a good old fry-up hasn’t got you right as rain. Take a swig of a revitalising Overhang drink instead and you’ll be on your way. It contains several ingredients to kickstart your day, such as ginger, burdock, milk thistle and raspberry leaf.

Buy a 250ml tin for £1.79 at Holland & Barrett or, if you are going to need a few, get a case of 12 for £13.99 on Amazon. That works out at £1.16 a tin.

Sporting chance: When I have a hangover, I reach for Lucozade Sport. I know some of you swear by it too. It costs £1.10 for a single bottle at Asda so I get the four-pack — currently down from £3 to £2.50, or about 63p a bottle.

Don’t milk it: This might come as a surprise but some doctors suggest a milkshake as a hangover cure. I love milkshakes, so giving this one a go was a treat. Luckily, a one-litre bottle of banana Yazoo is on offer for £1 at Tesco, down from £1.50. By contrast, a 330ml bottle of banana Shaken Udder is £1.40 at Sainsbury’s.

Cheap tricks: If you have used all the tricks up your sleeve and still have a banging head, you can always fall back on painkillers. Currently you can save 20 per cent on selected Anadin products at Boots.

And instead of paying 75p for a pack of Bells Healthcare paracetamol at Tesco, grab Boots’ own-brand paracetamol tablets for just 40p.
