Cruel mother whose neglected son lost a leg could prevent prison release

A mother who neglected her son so badly that he had to have his leg amputated could be prevented from being released from prison.

Parents Jodie Simpson and Anthony Smith were jailed in 2018 for torturing their son Tony Hajell, who is now seven years old.

When he finally sought medical attention, just six weeks after his birth, he suffered "near-death" injuries.
