Daughter bans alcohol at parents' anniversary party because of her beliefs

A woman received an angry backlash after refusing to serve alcohol at her parents' 50th wedding anniversary party. Because she doesn't drink. In her post on Reddit, she explained how she organized the celebration herself after her parents suggested they want to have a party on this anniversary.

"So far I've checked in 40 people. Yes. Like I said, I pay for everything, including food and drink. Doing all the work." so my parents weren't very involved in the plan," the woman wrote in the post.

A few days before the party, her sister went to see all the preparations, but she was less than impressed with the drinks plan, especially the lack of liquor.

Even though she liked everything from the food to the decorations, she was angry at her sister's insistence.

But the woman said that she had organized everything for the party and was also doing the billing, so she feels that she would be fine even if she didn't allow alcohol.

"I want this to be a dry event. My husband and I don't believe in drinking alcohol. We don't want to pay other people to drink." My plan is to drink only soda and water for people," she wrote in the post.

However, her sister said that guests expect alcohol to be served and that the party cannot be enjoyed without it. When she stepped in, she got really angry and said the party would fail without an alcoholic social lubricant to smooth the way," she continued. However, her post received backlash because she felt there was no place to force people to have a dry event and she should have at least asked them to bring their own booze.

Someone replied to her post. You can't stop other people from bringing it in.

Another proponent suggested: "She should at least let everyone know she doesn't believe in drinking alcohol so people welcome BYOB so that nothing is offered by the organizers who took over the event."

"But if it's their home and they don't want alcohol, then there's no need to drink alcohol. Those who think otherwise can either host or co-host the party elsewhere." One Redditor agrees with the sisters to organize the party.
