A driver abandoned their car after it flipped onto its roof in Ardwick.

Emergency services were called to Stockport Road at around 5am on Thursday, April 9.

Fire crews helped make the scene safe, however the driver of the car was not there when they arrived.

The firefighters were at the scene for around an hour to help with recovery of the vehicle.

Neighbours in the area described a large police presence this morning and said a section of Stockport Road was blocked off my officers.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to a road traffic collision at 5am this morning.

"The car had landed on its roof on the road.

"We made the scene safe.

"The driver of the car was out when we arrived. We left the scene with the police.

"We were there to make the vehicle safe. We were there for about an hour."
