Elon Musk loses title as world’s richest person

Elon Musk has lost the title of the world’s richest person to fashion titan Bernard Arnault, according to Forbes’ real-time wealth tracker.

The Twitter and electric carmaker Telsa owner was knocked out of the top spot by Arnault, who owns Louis Vuitton’s parent company LVMH.

He and his family, according to Forbes’ billionaire tracker, have a personal wealth exceeding $185.1 billion, or around £152 billion

Musk’s fortune stands at $184 billion, briefly bouncing back as the richest person earlier today before the value of his stake in Tesla tumbled.

But a distance of billions still stretches between the chief executive of SpaceX and industrialist Gautam Adani and Amazon founder Jezz Bezos.

Musk became the world’s richest person in January 2021 on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a ranking of the world’s richest 500 people.
