Emre Can rumours persist

Emre Can to Everton rumours are persisting despite Carlo Ancelotti’s defiant stance on the German midfielder.

The Juventus midfielder, who played for local rivals Liverpool, has again been linked with a move to Goodison Park.

In his pre-Newcastle press conference the boss explained: “I think I said at the last press conference that all the names that were on the newspaper were wrong.

“I can say the same today. They’re wrong. All the names on the newspaper are wrong.”

Not only that but Can himself reportedly ruled out a move to Manchester United recently out of respect for his former club.

Oumar Niasse latest

Leeds United will not make a move for Oumar Niasse despite reportedly being offered the chance to sign the Everton striker.

But reports from MOT Leeds News claim the Championship outfit have turned down the chance to acquire the Premier League striker as they pursue other targets.

James Rodriguez latest

According to reports Everton have been linked with a move for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.

Carlo Ancelotti is claimed to be interested in acquiring the Los Blancos man who he coached during his time in Spain.

A report via SportsMole has suggested Premier League rivals Arsenal may also have their eye on the Colombian.

Having been loaned to Bayern Munich in the past, Madrid are reportedly looking to offload Rodriguez on a permanent deal.

Transfermarkt lists the 28-year-old as worth around £36m which could be a steal for such a marquee signing.

Though, this looks to be some January transfer window speculation for the time being.

Good morning

Hello everyone and welcome to today’s Everton Live Blog.

Fortress Goodison

Yerry Mina has said Everton are determined to take charge of games at home, and the defender has also talked about the important role the fans will play.

“Goodison Park is our home,” he told evertonfc.com. “We’ve got to make people come here and respect us.

“And we’ve got to earn that respect ourselves when we come here.

“This is our territory, and we are boss. We need to boss things and be in charge of games when we’re at home.

“We’re lucky to have such a great fanbase. Every game they love us. Every game that we go into, we’ve got to fight tooth and nail. It’s almost an obligation.

“The fans get behind us every inch of the way, they encourage us, they support us, they cheer us on.

“Whether it’s the first minute of the game or the 90th minute, they’re always behind us.

“Rest assured, we’re going to be trying to make Goodison a fortress and give them the results that they deserve.”
