Liverpool-linked midfielder Jude Belligham is "a superstar in the making" according to former Reds captain Jamie Redknapp.

The Mirror reported last week that the England player's club Borussia Dortmund were hoping to start new contract talks with the 17-year-old amid interest from Anfield and Redknapp admits he's a big fan.

He told the Daily Mail : “Jude Bellingham, for a 17-year-old to be given the final 10 minutes when England are on the verge of victory (against Croatia in their Euro 2020 opener at Wembley on Sunday) shows how much he is rated.

“Southgate thinks so much of this teenager that he took off Harry Kane and asked Bellingham to see out the win.

“He’s an incredible specimen who covers so much ground and is comfortable on the ball.

“We’ll see more of him as the tournament goes on, I’m sure, and we’ll see a lot more of him in the future because he’s a superstar in the making.”

Stourbridge-born Bellingham became the youngest first team player in Birmingham City’s history when he made his debut at Portsmouth aged just 16 years and 63 days on August 6 2019.

He moved to Dortmund for an undisclosed fee – believed to be in the region of £25million – in July last year and enjoyed a hugely-impressive debut season with the Bundesliga club, making 44 appearances in all competitions and scoring four goals, while helping them to win the DFB-Pokal (German FA Cup).
