Asda will be offering half-price food throughout August in its cafés it has confirmed.

The supermarket is offering half-price deals to customers on every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this month.

It comes as the government launched its Eat Out to Help Out scheme to encourage people to dine at businesses that were closed due to the coronavirus crisis.

Those who enjoy Asda meals will be able to get sandwiches for less than a pound, a slice of pizza for 75p and chips for just 43p.

And while the offers are just as good as the government's scheme, Asda is providing the discount itself, and not using any taxpayer money to fund them, reports Mirror Money.

An Asda spokeswoman told the publication: "An Asda spokeswoman told Mirror Money: "Asda’s cafes are running a 50% off deal in August when customers eat in. This will be valid Monday to Wednesday and will start Monday 3rd August and end Monday 31st August."

Like Eat Out to Help Out the discount is capped at £10 per person and there's no minimum spend.

What's more, the half price comes after any other offer is already applied, including the "kids eat free" offer after 3pm when an adult spends £4 and the over-60s discount on a Wednesday.
