Kevin McHale said Cory Monteith's ghost helped find missing Naya Rivera's body.

The actress, 33, was presumed dead after she vanished without a trace from a boat leaving her four-year-old son Josey behind on Lake Piru last week.

Her body was unearthed from the eerie depths of the lake on Monday but an autopsy and formal identification will be carried out by investigators.

Glee co-star Kevin was convinced the ghost of actor Cory helped track down Naya in the huge lake.

Cory died aged 31 of an accidental overdose in 2013.

The trio formed a strong bond when they worked together on hit series Glee.

Kevin said it would be hard for him to be persuaded that the ghost of his former co-star wasn't involved in finding Naya's body.

He wrote: "I'm not religious by any means, but you'd be hard-pressed to convince me that Cory didn't help find our girl today.

"These 2, in many ways, were the male and female versions of one another. So nice, cared deeply, were stupidly talented, the most fun, and really really good people."

Kevin shared his spiritual musings with his 1.3million fans.

Naya's death is believed to be a tragic accident as police are sure of no foul play or suicide.

Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said: "We are confident the body we found is that of Naya Rivera."

Both Naya and Cory have had tragic deaths

Devastated Kevin has been sharing some of his fond memories of Naya on social media.

The actor remembered a recent time when they were getting drunk at her house and singing at the top of their lungs.

"One of my most favorite recent memories with Naya was getting drunk at her house with her drink of choice, a martini, but actually just chilled vodka sans everything else. She put on @Jessiereyez, "Being Human in Public," and we sang at the top of our longs [sic: lungs] at least 3 times thru."

He added: "One of my many thoughts today about our girl: Nobody loved music like she did. She ATE up every type of music. She knew every lyric, to every song, in every genre. We'd send each other new songs and artists, and share our own music expecting nothing but brutal honesty in return."
