Skye and Wester Ross local communities speak of shock aftergun rampagekilled one man and hospitalized three .
Scottish Police officers rushed to Tarskavaig,Isle of Skyearound 9:00 am on Wednesday to report that a 32-year-old woman had been seriously injured.
The woman who was stabbed was locally named Rowena Her MacDonald. She was seriously injured and the Queen of Glasgowshe was taken to Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
Moments later, police were summoned to a nearby facility in the Teanghe area following reports of a firearm being fired around 9:30 am.
Paramedics rushed to the scene, but sadly he was pronounced dead on the premises by a 47-year-old man. Police later named him Scottish Father John McKinnon.
Police then attended a property in the Dorney area of Wester Ross following further reports of firearms being fired.
The victims of this incident are named as popular local osteopath John Don Mackenzie and his wife Fay.
John was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment of serious injuries, while Faye was taken to Broadford Hospital in Skye.
A 39-year-old man was arrested in connection with all incidents and is believed to be related. He was also taken to Raigmore Hospital.
Residents of the Highlands community took to social media to express shock at the events of August 10th. The events unfolded just before 9:00 am and rocked a tranquil part of Scotland to its core.
One said, ``What a terrible thing can happen in such a beautiful, quiet, and friendly place.'' Another person added: "It was really scary and unexpected in this peaceful and beautiful place. It's a really sad day."
A third local resident wrote: A fourth respondent said, "I am very sorry to read this. It is a very dark day for the West."
Another lamented in the Gaelic "Uamhasach" - meaning terrible, terrible or shocking. Another said, "Awful news. My thoughts and prayers to them all Kudos to all emergency services who still tracked down and arrested individuals despite limiting the ever-changing information."
Chief Inspector Conrad Trickett, acknowledging the shockwave the incident had on the community at a media briefing on Thursday, told reporters:
"The serious incidents witnessed yesterday are extremely rare and I want to further reassure the local community that they will be dealt with and nothing more.

Ross, Skye and Lochaber SNP MP Ian Blackford told BBC Radio Scotland on Thursday. He said: We recognize that there are applications from people with gun licenses from time to time, especially when it comes to farming.
It is right and proper to continue to consider the regulations we are implementing for the very simple reason that we have a responsibility to keep people safe.”
