How can I convince my partner that I am really quitting drinking now?

Bottled

Dear DEIDRE: I quit drinking a few weeks ago and my partner won't take me back.

She says she doesn't believe I quit completely, as I said earlier.

I'm her 43 and she's 41. We she has been together for 15 years and have 3 kids.

She ended our relationship because she didn't want me to be a nasty and argumentative person when I drank.

A month ago, I went out with some colleagues and promised to refrain from sauce.

But I couldn't say no to a pint, got carried away, and went home in a terrible state.

She said enough was enough. I have to move and can only see my kids once a week.

Not a single drop has been touched since.

All issues will be answered individually, usually within 24 hours on weekdays.

But she says we're never going back.

I don't know how to prove to her that I've given up the devil's drink forever this time.

DEIDRE says: Quitting alcohol is not easy. Show your partner that you are really serious this time.

She will be more understanding if you can show her that you are getting professional support too.

Remember, however, that trust rebuilding takes time.

My support pack, Drink Problem, will tell you where to get advice.
