We're now just a fortnight away from the new Championship season so today leads us into the next phase of Hull City's pre-season programme.

After the gentle tests in Marbella up against Leyton Orient and Lincoln Red Imps and then the behind-closed-doors clash with Grimsby Town, Grant McCann's side face their toughest test yet up against a Mansfield side that narrowly missed out on promotion to League One last season.

City fans making the journey to the One Call Stadium will hope to get a first glimpse of Tom Eaves and Josh Bowler, while fellow new arrivals Matt Ingram and Ryan Tafazolli could also feature.

Only two more friendlies follow this fixture so the stakes are starting to rise as players aim to a claim a place to face Swansea on the opening weekend.

We'll build up to City facing Mansfield and keep you updated on all the latest transfer news. Follow it all in our live blog below.

Your worst nightmare

Another new boy ought to get his first run-out in City colours today so plenty will be watching Tom Eaves with interest.

The former Gillingham forward was prolific in League One last season and capable of giving out a few sleepless nights.

Eaves, apparently, is the stuff of nightmares.

Tafazolli with plenty to prove

We’ll start with an interview with Ryan Tafazolli, who returns to Mansfield Town today after three years away.

The defender spent four years with the Stags before joining Peterborough but now it’s all about proving that he’s ready for the Championship.

Good morning

It’s game day for Hull City, who play their first friendly on English soil this afternoon.

We’re not counting the behind-closed-doors game against Grimsby on Tuesday as none of us were there to see it so it’s all eyes on Mansfield Town.
