  • Matt Hancock admits signing up for I'm A Celeb was 'controversial'

Matt Hancock has said he knew joining I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! would be "controversial".

But the disgraced MP pointed out how ultimately "millions of people" voted for him.

The former health secretary, 44, whose stint in the Australian jungle prompted criticism from the Prime Minister and MPs across the political spectrum, came third during the series finale on Sunday, claiming 21.7% of the initial public vote.

This placed him behind former England footballer Jill Scott in first place and Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner as runner-up.

During the post-series Coming Out Show on Thursday, he will be seen exiting the campsite to be reunited with his partner Gina Coladangelo and attending a wrap party.

Hancock resigned as health secretary in June last year after he was caught breaking coronavirus social distancing rules by having an affair with Coladangelo, then his aide, in his ministerial office.

  • Gina Coladangelo comes face to face with Boy George

After being reunited with friends and family at a hotel outside camp, Coladangelo introduces herself to Boy George, who had a fractious relationship with Hancock on the show.

Away from the jungle, Owen revealed that typically he’s used to eating a whopping six meals a day.

Now, after a diet of rice and beans for the last few weeks, the former campmate has revealed he lost a stone in weight and weighed in at 12st 2oz (78kg).

"I knew going in it would be controversial but I also know millions of people have voted for me."

She said: “I haven’t had a chance to catch up so I still feel I’m in a little bubble. I did feel like when we got in that jungle, everyone was just equal.

“In there, food is so important, to go on trials and win stars – he did that, to be fair. He smashed the trials. As long as he was feeding us, I was happy.”

IBS is a common condition that affects the digestive system and can causes symptoms like stomach cramps, bloating and diarrhoea.

“I’m not scared about eating things,” she said.

“My main worry is about would be how my body would react. You see, I’m the type of person who gets a small bite and then my whole leg swells up.

“I’ve also got IBS too so I’d be scared that if I ate something that disagreed with me I’d probably end up [bleep]ing myself on TV. “It’s not mentally how I’d deal with it, but more physically how my body would work,” she added.
