Isle of Skye murder: Dad shot dead while trying to save others from gunman who 'stabbed his sister'

Yesterday (August 10) John McKinnon died at the age of 47 at his home in the village of Ting on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

John's sister, her Rowena MacDonald, 32, had been previously stabbed and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

She is the Queen of Glasgow. She remains in critical condition at Elizabeth University Hospital.

Police arrived around 9:30 am and sadly John, a father of four, was declared dead at the scene.

Two of her 63-year-olds, locally named osteopath John Mackenzie and his wife, mental health nurse Faye, Wester, more than 30 miles away from her by the road. - Wounded in his second shooting at Dorney, Los Angeles.

He remains in critical condition in hospital while his wife has since been released.

Heartbroken friends of John McKinnon said they were trying to grab a gun to help others when John McKinnon was shot.

An old school friend described him as:

She added: "I know what my family and friends went through when they lost a loved one." In all our thoughts and prayers now, we grieve with them.

"The West Highland community They are tight-knit, and we welcome them warmly, but this breaks us to the core.

"Our hearts themselves I, and I'm sure many others, never expected such a terrible day to come.The Highland homes will not be affected by this terrible tragedy.

Police said the incidents were "related."
