Corbyn's legal team, however, challenged the findings of the Court of Appeals. A judge who found his statement "entirely factual" argued that it was erroneous and said it was an "exercise."

They also argued that the statement was not defamatory under common law.

In a recent blow to the former Labor leader, Three Supreme Court Justices, Sir Reed, Sir Leggatt and Sir Stevens, announced today that they had ruled in May that they were denied leave to appeal to the Court. The application "does not raise controversial legal issues."
