Kanye West will NOT acquire social platform Parler, company confirms

Kanye West's dream of owning his own social media platform is over, the company behind Parler has confirmed.

The rapper, 45, had been in discussion to purchase the alternative to Twitter for some time but both parties have now walked away from any potential deal.

The news was announced in a statement on Twitter by Parler. The company told its 226k followers: "In response to numerous media inquiries, Parlement Technologies would like to confirm that the company has mutually agreed with Ye to terminate the intent of sale of Parler. This decision was made in the interest of both parties in mid-November."

The statement continued: "Parler will continue to pursue future opportunities for growth and the evolution of the platform for our vibrant community."

At the time, the company released a statement saying the musician was purchasing the platform to "create an uncancellable environment where all voices are welcome".

The latest news is sure to come as a blow for the company whose statement at the time by its chief executive George Farmer said: "This deal will change the world, and change the way the world thinks about free speech.

"Ye is making a ground-breaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again.

"Once again, Ye proves that he is one step ahead of the legacy media narrative."

In his latest rant, he admitted he 'sees good things about Hitler' and that he 'likes' the Nazi leader.

The programme's host had tried to defend Kanye against criticism he was facing when the musician made the bold remarks.

"You’re not Hitler, you’re not a Nazi, so you don’t deserve to be demonised," Alex said before Kanye interjected.

"Well I see good things about Hitler also.

"I love everyone and Jewish people are not going to tell me, 'You can love us and you can love what we're doing to you in the contracts and you can love what we're pushing with the pornography,' but this guy that invented highways, invented the very microphone that I use as a musician, 'You can't say out loud that this person ever did anything good'.

"And I'm done with that! I'm done with the classifications. Every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler."
