Kate Middleton is a great mother but she’s living in a fantasy if she thinks her kids will have a normal upbringing, Ingrid Seward claims

KATE Middleton is "living a fantasy" is she thinks her children can have a normal upbringing, a royal expert has claimed.

Editor of Majesty magazine Ingrid Seward told People magazine that there's only so much royal couples can do to protect their children from the spotlight.

Labelling Prince William a "very modern dad" and Kate Middleton a "great mother", a royal source said: "The Cambridge kids are really lively. Clearly the kids are having fun."

Earlier this month, the Duchess of Cambridge was praised for her "fantastic" response to cheeky Princess Charlotte sticking her tongue out at crowds during a charity regatta.

However, Ingrid claims that it's impossible to give royal children a normal upbringing - no matter how hard they've tried.

The expert said: "Even the Queen in the '50s said she wanted her children brought up as normally as possible.

"But it's a fantasy to say that."

A source also told the magazine that Prince George and Princess Charlotte have become incredibly close as a result.

The source explained: "They are close in age, and they spend so much time together.

"Play dates [with outsiders] can be tricky, so they learn to lean on each other."

The insider pointed out that the kids do seem to have different personalities, with George a little "more reserved" while Princess Charlotte - who was pictured cheekily sticking her tongue out last week - is "more outgoing".

George and Charlotte are often spotted playing together and in recent months especially, the royal kids have been photographed joking around as well as chasing a football together at a charity polo match in July.

Although the Cambridge family jetted off on a relatively "normal" summer holiday to Mustique earlier this summer, they will then pay a visit to The Queen and Prince Philip and stay in a cottage within the Balmoral castle estate.

In more Royal Family news, Kate Middleton and Prince William are "delaying their Balmoral trip" to avoid seeing Meghan and Harry, a royal expert has claimed.

Plus friends have "stopped inviting" Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to dinner parties because they're sick of the royals PDAs.

And Meghan Markle can never go back to acting because Harry "won't want to see her kissing someone else", Kevin Costner has claimed.
