Lacey Turner has admitted that she felt "numb" throughout her pregnancy to daughter Dusty after suffering two heartbreaking miscarriages.

The 31-year-old EastEnders actress, who plays Stacey Slater in the BBC soap, appeared on Loose Women today as she opened up about her struggle to get pregnant.

Lacey gave birth to her daughter, who is almost eight months old, with husband Matt Kay on June 12 2019.

Speaking on the ITV chat show today, she said: "The first time we fell pregnant we said, 'Oh my god, this is so exciting' And you start thinking about baby names and looking at clothes and things, and then it was just sort of gone… at seven weeks, it was such a massive shock as quite naively I thought, ‘I’m going to have a baby.’”

Revealing that she had only told her parents and Matt's about the first pregnancy, she said: "Luckily, I didn’t have to tell loads of people that it had gone and it was no longer there, which was a relief actually. It’s so hard, what do you say to people? I don’t want them to feel uncomfortable about it.

"Although I felt so heartbroken, I just thought ‘I’ll brush that under the rug’,… and then you think ‘Next time I’ll be fine.’"

She added: "It’s hard because, are you supposed to grieve for something that’s the size of a grain of rice? People believe different things, but for me it was a baby from the minute it was conceived."

When she and Matt miscarried a second time, Lacey said that she felt more prepared but it also made her question that something was wrong.

She said: "The second time I had a miscarriage… although I was more prepared, it was more of a kick in the stomach, because it hadn’t worked the second time and I thought, ‘What do I do now? Is there something wrong, is this going to take us years?’”

However when she went to the doctor. Lacey and her partner Matt were told that everything seemed to be fine.

Lacey had weekly scans while pregnant with Dusty because she was 'so scared'

Opening up about her third successful pregnancy, she said: "It took us ages to get pregnant. I put so much pressure on myself to fall pregnant and it was happening. It got to the point where I said to Matt, ‘Let’s just forget it. We’ll get a puppy.’ As soon as we’d said that, we fell pregnant."

Lacey had a scan every week while she was pregnant with Dusty, explaining: "I was so scared. Until you feel kicking, you don’t know if anything is actually there. I always thought, ‘This might not work,’ I just became really laid back about the whole thing. I just felt numb to the whole thing.”

Despite all the heartache, Lacey said she had the "most unbelievable birth".

She said: "It was amazing. I had the most unbelievable birth. I watched my mum give birth to my sister when she was 13. I think it was my mum’s form of contraception! But it was truly amazing.

"I woke up with a tummy ache at 2, went to hospital at 3.. Had her at quarter to nine and I was home by half five, cleaning my house…. We were on cloud nine."
