Liverpool pubs & restaurants packed with customers after lockdown

Concert Square, Castle Street, Bold Street and more were busy as pubs and restaurants reopened

Liverpool's hospitality industry welcomed customers back today for the first time this year, after lockdown rules eased.

Bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants were packed with customers enjoying al fresco food and drink in the April sunshine.

Hospitality businesses were grateful for the trade having been closed since New Year's Eve due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A change in the rules from today, April 12, meant that such venues can now offer table service outside, and many city centre venues were set up ready to serve customers outdoors.

We spent the day in Liverpool city centre following the events and you can look back at our live coverage here.

Below are some of the pictures that show just how ready Liverpool was to taste freedom (and beer) again.
