London Marathon 2022 start times: When do men's, women's and mass races begin?

Around 50,000 runners are set to descend on the streets of London for the 2022 Marathon this weekend.

While there will be professional athletes looking to lay down a marker with victory in London, thousands will be raising funds for charities of their choice.

Expect fancy dress aplenty too while England's victorious Lionesses Leah Williamson, Jill Scott and Ellen White getting things underway as official race starters.

Sisay Lemma is back to defend his title in the men's race, although Sir Mo Farah will not take part due to injury. Reigning women’s champion Joyciline Jepkosgei will also aim to defend her crown.

The races will get underway on Saturday October 1 with the Mini Marathon before the elite men's, women's, wheelchair and mass race starts on Sunday October 2.

The weather forecast is promising for the weekend race but there will be issues with public transport due to rail strikes.

There are rail strikes taking place on the Saturday before the race, which will also affect transport on Sunday as well. So far, Greater Anglia has already said it won’t be running trains before 7am on race day, and there is the likelihood of delays on public transport across London.
