A man suspected of kidnapping andsexually assaultinga 6-year-old girl has been arrested by Manchester police.
Police said a 23-year-old boy was being held for questioning as part of an investigation after he was kidnapped in the street.
Tameside police reported that a girl was abducted from her Warne Avenue in Droylsden around 4pm on Wednesday.
She was then allegedly sexually assaulted near a disused railroad track in a wooded area near Manchester Road.
It is now understood that professional police officers are assisting the girl, and she has been safely returned to her family.
A detective said yesterday that he "wanted to speak to [the man] as soon as possible" and announced that the investigation would be stepped up when CCTV footage was also released.

``A child was playing in the area and a man who was hanging out took the child away.
"Parents should consider the circumstances I have referred to. While we are moving forward with this as soon as possible, we need to pay particular attention to our children."
