A man has been taken to hospital following a "serious accident" on a busy Hull road.
Humberside Police closed the A63 at Myton Bridge following the incident which took place around 4.30pm on Saturday.
A witness at the scene said: “Myton Bridge has been closed.
"A motorcyclist came off their bike due to the wind. Police and ambulance are on the scene.”
Traffic leaving Hull city centre was redirected through Market Place as emergency services attended the scene, leading to long delays for drivers.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service deployed one fire engine to the bridge with paramedics from Yorkshire Ambulance Service also present.
Humberside Police say the extent of the man’s injuries are not currently known.
The road was closed until 6.30pm.
Initially, police only closed the eastbound land to traffic but Highways England later confirmed that the road was closed both ways.
In a tweet they said: "A63 between A1079 Ferensway and A1165 Great Union Street is closed in both directions to due a serious accident.
"Traffic officers are en route. Humberside Police are on scene.
"We will keep you updated."
Police asked drivers to avoid the area.
A Humberside Police spokeswoman said: “Officers are currently on the Myton Bridge, near Castle Street, responding to a collision.”
“One man has been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries, the extent of which are not currently known.
“Road closures are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
