Martin Odegaard spotted in Germany ahead of transfer to Bayern Leverkusen after flopping at Real Madrid

MARTIN ODEGAARD has been spotted in Germany ahead of a reported transfer to Bayer Leverkusen.

The Norwegian midfielder was expected to become a superstar when Real Madrid signed him at the age of just 16 back in 2015.

But the one-time wonderkid, now 20, has failed to make any impression on the first team at the Bernabeu.

Odegaard spent last season out on loan at Dutch side Vitesse, where he managed eight goals and eleven assists in the Eredivisie.

And Norwegian media spotted the starlet accompanied by his agent, former Liverpool defender Bjorn Tore Kvarme, at Dusseldorf airport on Thursday afternoon.

That has let to speculation that nearby Leverkusen are topping the race for his signature - despite links with Dutch champions Ajax.

Odegaard will be viewed as an ideal replacement for Germany international Julian Brandt who has already joined Borussia Dortmund.

Highly-rated Kai Havertz has also been linked with a move away from Leverkusen this summer.

Petr Bosz's side finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season and qualified for the Champions League.
