McDonald’s mad mum shows how to make a Big Mac and fries in quarantine – and it ‘looks better than the real deal’

The Sun

A CLEVER home cook has unveiled her 'quarantine Big Mac' - and people reckon it looks even "better than the real thing".

The clever mum made the entire McDonald's classic, including the sesame seed buns, at home for her family.

Posting on the Homemade McDonald's Facebook group, the woman said "everyone seemed happy" with the meal - and revealed her exact recipe.

First, she used 500g of beef mince, a pinch of salt and made the patties into shape using a rolling pin.

Next, she made the Big Mac sauce with a mixture of mayonnaise, gherkin relish, garlic powder, onion powder, white wine vinegar, salt, yellow mustard and smoked paprika.

The mum is planning to recreate the McNuggets for her next attempt.

How to make the 'quarantine Big Mac'

500g mince beef (15-20% fat)

Sesame seed burger buns

1 cup mayo (McDonald’s use Heinz)

1 tablespoon gherkin relish

1.5 teaspoon garlic powder

1.5 teaspoon onion powder

2 teaspoon white wine vinegar

2 teaspoon yellow mustard

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Add a pinch of salt to the mince meat and form flat patty shapes using your hands or a rolling pin.

Cook patties in a pan on medium heat for two minutes on each side.

Combine the mayonnaise, gherkin relish, garlic powder, onion powder, white wine vinegar, salt, yellow mustard and smoked paprika to make the sauce.

Toast the buns and start to assemble the burger.

Once the patties have cooked, remove from heat and place on buns.

Assemble the rest of the burger and enjoy.

Commenting on her pics, impressed Maccies fans raved: "I would much rather eat yours than the one's from (McDonald's)."

While another said: "Are you kidding me? These are amazing! And isn't that what this is all about? Learning to make do with what we have".

Yesterday, a clever mum tricked her kids with a homemade McDonald’s Happy Meal – and even recreated the packaging.
