Morocco vs Spain World Cup 2022: LIVE score and updates from last 16 as game headed for extra time

Brazil players hold Pelé banner up following World Cup win against South Korea

Morocco play Spain in the last 16 of the Qatar World Cup today, with the winners set to face Portugal or Switzerland in the quarter-finals.

Spain finished second in their group despite thrashing Costa Rica and drawing with Germany, due to a shock loss to Japan on their last matchday of the first round.

Meanwhile, Morocco stunned Belgium and beat Canada after an opening draw with Croatia, topping their group to set up this tie with 2010 champions Spain.

Later today, Portugal take on Switzerland in the final last-16 game of Qatar 2022, with the victors from that match-up playing the winners of this game in the next round.

Full-time: Morocco 0-0 Spain

90+5 mins: Dani Olmo has a late chance to win it for Spain. He takes a free kick from the left side of the pitch and sends it towards goal. There’s an awkward bounce just before Bono but the goalkeeper turns it away!

Goalless. Good defending from Morocco and a lack of creativity from Spain means that no goals were scored in the 90 minutes and the match is heading to extra-time.

Can one of the teams win it before a penalty shootout?

Free kick Spain.

Morocco 0-0 Spain

75 mins: Spain are trying to walk the ball into the back of the net now. They’ve tried crossing the ball into the middle but Morocco’s central defence is too good.

This game looks set to beat that.
