Police are hunting a mugger who was filmed stealing a 10 year-old girl’s iPhone before hurling her to the ground and kicking her in the face.

The violent attack took place on May 25 and was captured by a surveillance camera at the apartment building in the Bronx where the girl lives.

Animal shelter put dog down as it was giving birth to puppies then killed them too

It saw the youngster arrive home while FaceTiming her mother on her iPhone 7+, while the mugger waited outside the door.

He then followed her past a security door and grabs her around the neck.

The mugger and his victim briefly disappear out of sight, before he is seen grappling with the little girl and hurling her to the ground before kicking her, breaking the youngster’s glasses and leaving her face covered in blood.

Her mother told CBS2 afterwards: ‘I was talking to her on the phone… I thought it was kids playing downstairs.

‘She was coming out of the elevator crying. She starts telling me, “Mommy they steal me, mommy they steal me.”

‘She was bleeding, she had some bruises, and she said, “Mommy, they broke my favorite glasses.”

‘I just let her breathe for a few minutes and then I start talking to her.

‘She told me, “Mommy, they steal your phone, mommy they steal what I purchased.”

‘I’m like, “That’s fine, I just want you to tell me who did it.”

‘I  was mad because she’s 10 years old… I’m still mad, I’m still mad, if I’m being honest, I’m still mad. But I just have to be strong enough for her.’

The woman, who did not want to be named, said the vicious assault has left her daughter too scared to go outside, and made her fear for her family’s safety in the apartment building.

The NYPD have appealed for information on the shocking crime.
