Mum who's slammed 'lazy' for children's after-school snack defends 'unhealthy' decision

Parenting can sometimes be exhausting, so parents may sometimes prepare their little ones quick and easy dinners in the midst of their busy schedules. However, a mum has been labelled "lazy" by fellow parents after giving her children an "unhealthy" after-school snack.

The mum-of-two was quickly fired at after explaining she commonly gives her kid's an easy treat - leftover and frozen takeaway pizza to reheat once they're home. Unfortunately, the busy parent was slammed online as she shared the kid's "snack hack" to enjoy after a busy day of education.

The mum often prepares the pre-dinner grub in zip-lock bags before reheating it in an air fryer.

She admitted that the kids are such big fans that she even orders extra to make sure there are plenty of leftovers for them to tuck into.

The mum said that her snack is the "perfect after-school snack in under five minutes".

She explained: "I freeze them in zip lock bags in slices of 2-3 and the kids can warm them up in the air fryer."

Since posting, parents have expressed their concern over the late afternoon food - with some claiming that it's too "fatty" for it to be a regular snack.

A mum said: "Takeaway pizza has so much fat and salt. It should be a once-a-week food for kids. Kids can make the sandwiches easily themselves too.

"And probably safer than letting them use an air fryer on their own. Just saying," they added.

On the other hand, people quickly came to the mum's defence after claiming they've fed their children reheated takeaway pizza for years.

"Let her do what she wants to do if it works for her you're not living there," one person said.

A different user penned: "My son uses the stove, oven and airfryer, uses the same kitchen knives as me. Risk isn't a bad thing. Neither is this mum's afternoon tea idea."

The mum hit back at judgy parents who put her down for her controversial decision as she assured users that her children are healthy.

She explained: "Thanks for your concern about me putting my children's health and safety at risk.

"They eat a well-balanced diet, are active and we teach them how to be safe in the kitchen, just saying," the mum added.
