A murder investigation has been launched by police after a woman died at a house.

Officers were called shortly after 12.35pm on Wednesday (June 17) to reports of a concern for welfare of a woman at a property on Princess Street in the Broadheath area of Greater Manchester.

Emergency services attended the scene but despite their best efforts, a woman in her 30s passed away in hospital a short time later.

A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He has since been released under investigation.

Two police cordons are in place on Princess Street and Peveril Road, reports the MEN.

Photographs from the scene show a police officer guarding a terraced house within the cordon.

In a statement, GMP said: "Shortly after 12.35pm on Wednesday 17 June 2020, police were called to reports of concern for the welfare of a woman on Princess Street, Altrincham.

"Emergency services attended and sadly, despite the best efforts of paramedics, a woman in her 30s passed away a short time later at hospital.

"A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and has since been released under investigation.

"Two scenes are currently in place on Princess Street and Peveril Road in Altrincham.

"Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and enquiries remain ongoing.
