A MURDER probe has been launched after a 59-year-old man was attacked and killed in a park.
Forensic cops have today been searching a playground, as an 18-year-old has been arrested in relation to the crime.
Police launched the murder investigation this morning, after a man phoned calling for help from an Oxford park.
The cops arrived not long after 6am to find the 59-year-old with a head wound, fighting for his life.
He was rushed to hospital, but died shortly after.
Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit launched a murder probe after finding the man at Wood Farm Park between Wood Farm Road and Nuffield Road.
An 18-year-old man, also from Oxford, has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Head of Criminal Justice and senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Craig Kirby, said: “We have launched a murder investigation after a man died this morning.
“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts remain with them at this most difficult time.
“We are in the very early stages of this investigation, which appears to be a targeted attack.
“We have arrested an 18-year-old man from Oxford on suspicion of murder and he remains in police custody.
“I would ask anyone who may have information about this incident or was in the area at around 6am this morning to please contact us as soon as possible.
“Also, if you were driving in the area around the time of this incident and have a dash-cam or if you live in the area and have a CCTV camera or a video doorbell, please check your recordings in case it has captured something that could assist our investigation.
