Here is a round-up of the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours:
Nabil Fekir emerges as Newcastle target
According to news coming out of France, Newcastle have former France international Nabil Fekir on their list of transfer targets.
The attacking midfielder was previously on the brink of moving to Liverpool after several excellent seasons at Lyon, however the deal broke down and he moved to Real Betis in Spain.
The report states that there is also a chance that Fekir signs a contract extension at Betis.
'English spine' part of Newcastle transfer vision with James Tarkowski first in-line
Transfer-insider Dean Jones has been speaking about the vision for Newcastle's future, in terms of new recruits.
He has stated that the Magpies are planning for an 'English spine' to the team and that James Tarkowski is the first signing that the new ownership are looking for in order to bring this to pass.
“Tarkowski definitely is one. He’s kind of in line with the vision that I’ve heard, that they want an English spine to the team," said Jones.
“He is seen as somebody that can certainly help the club slowly start to turn the corner.â€
Rafa Benitez seeks Longstaff reunion
Everton have been linked with Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff, a player out of contract in 2022. The midfielder played under Everton manager, Rafael Benitez during the Spaniard's time at St James' Park and he is said to be a big fan.
Kevin Campbell has claimed that the deal could be done as Newcastle would be seeking to upgrade in midfield due to their increased budget:
“Longstaff has been linked with Rafa Benitez at Everton. Benitez really likes him so that one will get done I think.
“Look, Newcastle have big bank now. The expectations have changed overnight. Youngsters like Longstaff are probably going to be cast aside for experienced players like [Georginio] Wijnaldum," Campbell told Football Insider.
“I’m sure there has been and will be negotiations with Longstaff. He could stay and be part of the squad but does he really want that?
“If he’s serious he will want to get away and play. I can’t see him re-signing. Newcastle won’t want him to leave on a free though so they’ll probably try and do something in January.â€
