The following regions will face a hose pipe ban affecting 5 million people from August 26th.

Yorkshire Water became the first company in the north of England to ban hose pipes this summer.

It will take effect August 26, amid warnings that the region is experiencing the lowest rainfall recorded since records began more than 130 years ago.

Reservoir levels are below 50% for the first time since the 1995 drought, requiring months of rainfall to replenish, according to Yorkshire Water, which has more than 5 million customers .

This is his first hosepipe ban in 27 years for the company, and failure to comply could result in fines of up to £1,000.

"Hot and dry weather means Yorkshire rivers are running low and reservoirs are about 20% less than expected at this time of year," says Yorkshire Water. says Neil Dewis, Director of Water at .

"We have done all we can to avoid imposing restrictions, but unfortunately restrictions are now necessary as part of our plans for drought.

We will take further measures

"We have reached that trigger point now, so this year and next year, We need to ensure adequate supplies for the essential needs of people throughout the region. We protect the local environment by limiting the amount of water that must be pumped from rivers.

"Hose Our decision to introduce a pipe ban is based on the risk that water resources will continue to decline in the coming weeks and the need to look out for clean water supplies and long-term river health."
