Nice makes £8.4m transfer bid for Ben Bretton Diaz but falls short of Blackburn's valuation and faces battle with Premier League side

NICE has submitted a bid of £8.4m for Ben Breton Diaz of Blackburn. They are trying to bet many clubs forward.

The Ligue 1 side bid first to Rovers knowing they could lose the Chile national team this month.

West Ham have long followed Diaz's progress, whilethe Premier League and many clubs in Spain are keen.

Hamers' Prem rivals Everton and Leeds are also reportedly interested in signing the prolific Chilean player.

Bretton Diaz has scored two goals in his three Championship appearances so far this season and Rovers could bet up to £15m.

The 23-year-old's play last season caught the eye of several clubs.

Bretton Diaz made 39 appearances in all competitions, netting 22 times and providing three assists.

Rovers boss Jon Dahl Thomason recently said he doesn't mind the attention the striker has received.

"I've had this question since day one and I understand it because great players come and go and everyone is interested in great players.

``He has to perform not only for the club, but for himself.

"Don't worry about Ben. He's a very nice boy."

Brereton Diaz and his Blackburn teammates travel to Madjeski Stadium to face Reading this evening.
