1 dead, 3 injured in 'massive incident' in Scottish Highlands

A man has been killed and three others injured in a series of gun-related incidents in the Scottish Highlands.

A 47-year-old man was found dead this morning at his property in the Isle of Skye's Ting district after police rushed to the scene after reports of a gunshot had been fired.

Just half an hour ago, at 9:00 am, he received a report that a 32-year-old woman was found seriously injured in Tarskavaig,Sky. Emergency services have been called.

She was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital ofGlasgowfor treatment. After hearing more gunshots, police turned up at a property in the Dorney neighborhood of Wester Ross.

A man with serious injuries was found and taken to Rigmore Hospital, Inverness, and a woman in unknown condition was taken to Broadford Hospital.

A 39-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with his three cases, which police believe are related. The suspect was also taken to Raigmore Hospital.

Kate Forbes, Skye's MSP, Lochaber & Badenoch described the news as "one of the worst days I can remember in the history of Skye and Lochaber." .

Chief Superintendent Conrad Trickett, Highlands and Islands Local Police Commander, said there would be a significant police presence in the area over the next few days, adding: local community.

"We would like to reassure people that we are treating these incidents as contained and not posing a significant threat to the general public."

Scotland An ambulance service spokesperson confirmed four people were taken to hospital in the spate of incidents.

``The West Highland community is tight-knit and we are warmly welcoming, but this breaks us to the core. It feels like it has been torn apart.

"Neither I nor many others expected such a tragic day."

Rescue The operation saw multiple ambulances, an air ambulance, and a special emergency rescue emergency team. These teams are called only for local incidents where people are in urgent need of medical attention.
