Manchester City fans would like to see Pep Guardiola select a forward-thinking midfield against Burnley in the Premier League today.

City come into the 3pm kick-off at the Etihad Stadium off the back of the 1-0 win over Olympiacos in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

But while they were victorious in Greece in midweek, City are without a win in the Premier League this month, following their 2-0 defeat by Tottenham and 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Guardiola is in desperate need of a win, with his side sitting in 14th place after taking just 12 points from their opening eight league matches.

Burnley picked up their first league win of the season with a 1-0 triumph over Crystal Palace last time out and City fans would like to see Guardiola pick an attacking line-up this afternoon to get at the Clarets’ defence.

Phil Foden scored City’s only goal against Olympiacos and supporters believe he should be rewarded with a place in the starting XI, after missing out against Spurs on 21 November.

We asked fans how Guardiola should set up his side and they responded by putting Foden in a midfield three alongside Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne.

Man City’s defence has become more settled in recent weeks and fans have opted for the same back four which started the defeat by Tottenham last time out in the league, with Cancelo and Kyle Walker flanking Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte.

That means John Stones and Benjamin Mendy dropping out of the side which started in Greece, while Nathan Ake is an injury doubt.

Up front fans would like to see the in-form Ferran Torres start alongside Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, who both started but were substituted in midweek.

Sergio Aguero came off the bench against Olympiacos, but that was the striker’s first appearance in a month, so fans appear to think Guardiola should be cautious with rushing him back.

Walker, De Bruyne and Laporte were all rested for Wednesday’s game so should be fresh and ready to pick up a victory against a Burnley side who have managed to score just four goals in the league this season.

Riyad Mahrez is not selected by fans, but could be used as an impact substitute along with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
