Piers Morgan shares GMB behind the scenes snap as he social distances from co-host Susanna Reid

PIERS Morgan has shared a behind the scenes snap of social distanced life with Susanna Reid on set at Good Morning Britain.

The co-hosts of the ITV weekday news programme have been continuing to work together as the majority of the country stays inside.

Piers tagged the photo of a smiling Susanna in the background with the words: "Good Morning socially distanced Britain!"

Even further back in the snap is the show's medic Dr Hilary Jones and a lone cameraman.

The picture detailed for his social media followers just how far the colleagues are required to sit away from each other to adhere to current social distancing rules.

Individuals from separate households have been requested to remain two metres apart from one another at all times.

Before the pandemic, GMB viewers would have seen the presenters sat closer together with their elbows within touching distance.

But the distance between them hasn't dampened the pair's usual banter on the show.

Earlier today, Piers, 55, revealed his car light had been smashed in the GMB car park - and accused Susanna of doing it.

Piers joked there was only one person that could be responsible for the damage - but Susanna, 49, defended her parking skills.

Dr Hilary asked Piers: "Have you found the vandal that vandalised your rear light yet?"

He replied: "No... the rear light got smashed, and I have no idea how it happened other than I park my car next to somebody else's car here... and it's only one other person's car, and it didn't happen at home because I park it next to the pavement."

Susanna shifted in her seat and glanced guiltily to the side, before saying: "I'm very good at three point turns, thank you very much indeed..."

The controversial host also today railed against the government's handling of coronavirus in care homes.

Speaking during a debate with West Midlands Mayor Andy Street, Piers highlighted the more than 22,000 deaths in care homes amid the coronavirus crisis.

He said: "You can understand why people are angry and aghast when they see our leaders claim completely falsely that there was a lockdown in care homes before the public and claiming there was a protective shield put around care homes when in fact, it was the complete opposite.

"Thousands of elderly vulnerable people, many with Covid-19, were sent from hospitals into care homes at the direction of the UK government.

"As a result over 22,000 people have died.

"This is a stain on this country, it is a stain on this government."

The show has been hit personally by the pandemic with fellow host Kate Garraway's husband currently in intensive care fighting the disease.
