Police hunting man wanted over woman's murder and warn public do NOT approach

A man is being hunted in connection with a woman's murder and the police have warned the public not to approach him.

Northumbria Police are searching for wanted man Alexander Carr as part of a murder investigation after the woman's body was found in Sunderland.

They urged the public to alert officers if they see him, claiming he 'knows he's wanted and is actively evading arrest'.

In a statement they said: "Police searching for Alexander Carr have released an additional photograph in a bid to find him.

"Efforts are ongoing to locate Carr who we want to speak to in connection with the murder of a woman in #Sunderland. He's believed to know he's wanted & actively evading arrest.

"We're treating the woman’s death as murder & a full investigation has been launched. Officers have identified Carr – who has links to Newcastle city centre, Jesmond & Sunderland – as a key individual who they urgently want to speak to in connection with their enquiries.

"Members of the public are asked not to approach Carr. Instead, please alert officers if you have seen him. If you have seen him, or know any information of his possible whereabouts, please contact us immediately by calling 999 quoting crime number 143632K/22."
