Pregnant Shaughna Phillips is 'convinced' she knows her unborn baby's gender

Love Island’s Shaughna Phillips has opened up about her pregnancy, believing she may already know the gender of her unborn baby.

The reality star, 28, announced she was expecting a baby with her partner Billy in October. She is due to become a mother for the first time.

Writing in her column for OK! magazine, Shaughna revealed she believes the baby is a boy, and opened up about the time she caught him kicking on camera.

Due to having an anterior placenta, being able to feel the baby kicking from the outside has been difficult for Shaughna and Billy. However, she managed to capture the baby kicking on film, which she then showed to her partner.

Shaughna Phillips said it's been a struggle to feel the baby kick

On the magical moment, she said she didn’t think Billy could believe his eyes and that it made him feel more excited about becoming a dad.

She said: “I don't think he's ever really experienced something like that before. I suppose with girls, when their friends are pregnant, they're always feeling their bellies. But Billy's never had that.”

It is due to the difficulty in feeling the baby kick that Shaughna believes it is a “mama’s boy”, due to only her being able to feel them move.

She said: “They're not playing with their daddy. I've filmed the baby quite a few times now, usually before I get in the bath I lie on my mum's bed and just say, 'Do something' and wait. He's quite active in the evenings so it usually works.”

Shaughna’s feeling that her baby is a boy has got stronger throughout her pregnancy, and now feels convinced of their sex, despite being “not entirely sure why”.

“One of my friends, who has two boys, said her pregnancies were so different and she was convinced she was having a girl the second time around. Then it turned out to be a boy, which made no sense because the pregnancies were polar opposites.”

She admitted that she “really wanted a girl” to begin with, but getting further into her pregnancy, she no longer thinks gender is relevant as she is “going to love them no matter what.”
