Prince Harry's ex says Meghan Markle has 'freed him and he was RIGHT' to quit UK

Prince Harry's rumoured ex says she believes Meghan Markle has 'freed him' as the couple's bombshell Netflix series looms.

Catherine Ommamney, 50, claims she dated the prince in 2006 when she was 34 and he was 21.

Harry found himself at the centre of a media storm yesterday when a second trailer for his bombshell docuseries with wife Meghan dropped.

In the explosive footage, the Duchess can be seen sobbing while her husband speaks out about The Firm.

The couple have been slammed by many for releasing the series as well as relinquishing their duties as royals.

However, Real Housewives of D.C star Catherine believes they've done the right thing.

“Meghan and Harry look very happy together and I wish them all the best," she said.

"I am so proud that Harry had the courage to move to the States and I think he really needed to do that – to finally be free," reports OK! magazine.

She added: “I have nothing but respect for Meghan, and the fact that Harry is with her shows that he does have more than one type after all – he is clearly not only interested in blondes."

According to Catherine, Harry dreamt of a “normal” life ahead of the release of the Netflix series.

The show has raised more than a few eyebrows - before it's even released.

In the astonishing trailer, Harry says: “I was terrified - I didn’t want history to repeat itself”, in allusion to the tragic circumstances surrounding his mother’s death.

Meghan is then seen crying as her husband claims there is a "war" against her.

The trailer features unlikely cameos from Donald Trump, Katie Price and Piers Morgan.

The former Good Morning Britain host told fans he was 'traumatised' the couple had used his voice to promote the series.

Piers can be heard calling Meghan a ''rockstar" in the trailer before he royally fell out with the couple after he accused the mum-of-two of lying.

Taking to Twitter, he said: "Princess Pinocchio & Prince Hypocrite use my voice to flog their ghastly new series. I’m traumatised by this exploitation."

However others have supported the couple's Netflix doc, with Loose Women host Judi Love praising Meghan for speaking out.

She said: ""The Met have confirmed Meghan Markle got 'very real' threats while she was a working royal," the TV panellist, 42, writes in her latest OK! column.

"Now we’ve seen the horrific threats to Meghan, Harry’s anger makes sense. It just breaks my heart that prior to this, she had to go through this alone with only Harry fighting her corner."

The Mirror has contacted Harry's reps for comment.
