The Queen "tragically missed the death of Prince Philip as she was asleep", a royal expert has claimed.
Prince Philip passed away on the morning of April 9, 2021, and now it has been revealed that his wife of nearly 74 years was unable to be by his side at the very end as she was asleep.
According to reports at the time of the Prince's death the Queen was by his side, but royal expert, Gyles Brandreth revealed why he didn't think she was present.

Writing for the MailOnline, Mr Brandreth, who authored a book entitled Philip and Elizabeth: Portrait of a Marriage, in July 2005, said that the prince died before the Queen could be called.
The television personality said that on the day he died the Duke of Edinburgh had been in a hospital bed, set up in his dressing room at Windsor Castle, and was escorted to the bathroom by a nurse.

"When he came back, he said he felt a little faint and wanted help getting back into bed," wrote Mr Brandreth.
"The nurse called the Duke's valet and the Queen's page, Paul Whybrew, for help — and he died before the Queen could be called.
"The Queen wasn't yet up.
"And she wasn't called until after a doctor had come and pronounced the Duke dead."
Mr Brandreth continued: "He was being laid out when the Prince of Wales arrived. Charles waited and had a cup of tea, but went away without seeing his father.
"Prince Edward did see him and then, gradually, the rest of the family began to arrive.
"As they tried to comfort the Queen, the Queen was comforting them."
Queen Elizabeth II married Prince Philip in 1947, after she was said to have fallen in love with him in 1939, when she was still a teenager.
Throughout their marriage the pair were inseparable and attended hundreds of events together every year.
