Heavily pregnant Scots mum 'jailed in Tenerife over unpaid fines' as fears raised for unborn baby
A pregnant Scots mum who is just eight weeks away from giving birth has been 'jailed for four months in Tenerife over two unpaid fines'. The UK Government is being urged to help secure the release of Jamielee Fielding, who was arrested on August 19 after travelling to the Canary Islands for a family holiday.
But instead of enjoying her trip in the sun with her dad and brother, she was arrested upon arrival and thrown inside a Spanish jail. Officials found the West Lothian woman had failed to pay the 420 Euro fines, incurred in September 2021, and deemed her a fugitive, the Scottish Daily Express reports.

Scots man flees Florida home with wife as alligators and sharks swarm streets in midst of Hurricane Ian
A Scots expat living in Florida has told how he was forced to flee from his home in the midst of Hurricane Ian as alligators and sharks swarmed residential streets.
Thomas Smart, 49, managed to escape the horror storm with wife Abby and her children, fearing for their lives as severe flooding and winds are now believed to have caused significant loss of life and severe damage in the state.
The couple were later horrified to see alligators in driveways and sharks swimming in water in the streets of their Cape Coral neighbourhood after they made the heartbreaking decision to leave for the safety of their family.

Queen Consort Camilla scraps traditional palace roles in huge Royal family shake-up
The Queen Consort has axed a Royal Family tradition that was reportedly close to the Queen's heart.
Camilla made the decision to scrap the the centuries-old tradition of having ladies-in-waiting, it has been claimed. It comes as she received the new title of Queen Consort after her husband Charles became King.
The 75-year-old believes that having a smaller set of royal staff is a way to "move with the times", similar to her husband's views, who is keen to slim down and modernise the monarchy.

Disabled OAP baffled as Ryanair flight takes off without her despite arriving early at airport
A disabled mum and her partner were left stunned after watching their Ryanair flight to Spain take off without them - despite arriving at the departure gate early. Margaret and John Harrop were due to fly out to see their son Keith for the first time since he moved out there with his partner Lynne in July 2020.
Due to her mobility issues, Margaret, 76, had arranged for a special assistance vehicle service to help them board the Alicante flight at Newcastle Airport on September 28. But waiting at the gate alongside seven other passengers, the couple were gobsmacked to see the plane taxiing onto the runway before taking off without them, the Mirror reports.

First £66 energy bill discount comes into force today amid cost of living crisis
The new energy price guarantee is being introduced today (October 1) amid an increase on household energy bills.
The average household will see their energy bills frozen at £2,500 per year, but it could be more depending on how much gas and electricity is being used.
While the price guarantee has been frozen as part of the Energy Bill Support Scheme, many people are understandably worried since this is higher than previous price caps and the cost of food, petrol and other essentials is also rising.
