Leroy Sane has been urged to snub Bayern Munich... by the Twitter admin of his former club Schalke.

Sane spent five years at Schalke between 2011 and 2016 before joining Manchester City for £42million.

In his three years at City Sane has won five major trophies but he was peripheral in their treble success this season and Bayern are interested in taking him to Bavaria.

Nico Kovac is on the look-out for a replacement for the departing Franck Ribery and Bayern's president and chairman have both publicly declared the club's desire to sign Sane.

President Uli Hoeness recently confirmed Bayern are working on a deal, while chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said Sane was on their radar before his move to City three years ago.

"At that time we did not have a guaranteed regular place for him," Rummenigge said. "Robben and Ribery were top of the top three years ago."

A return to Germany with Bayern would not go down well with Schalke's fans and the admin of the Gelsenkirchen club's US Twitter account made that clear as they responded to a report about his possible move to Bayern by responding: "Don't do it, Leroy..."

Sane faced Bayern three times with Schalke but never ended up on the winning side.
