Chris Sutton has never been one to level too much praise on Burnley.
But even the former Premier League striker turned pundit had to back the Clarets when one Burnley supporter called for Sean Dyche's head on BBC Five Live's 606 show.
Sutton was in the Five Live studio when Clarets fan John phoned in and called for Dyche to leave Turf Moor and former Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez to come in in the wake of the 5-0 defeat to Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium,
But Sutton, who won the top flight with Blackburn Rovers, backed Dyche and said any shortcomings at Burnley were as much down to a lack of investment.
Turf supporter John said on Saturday's phone in: "I don't want him in charge personally, I want someone like Rafa Benitez. I think he can take us to the next level.
"We have been in the Premier League long enough and I think we need to get up there. I think we need him (Rafa).
"If you can get someone like Rafa Benitiez then he is a proven manager.
"I think Sean Dyche has run his race at Burnley.
"I know he has done a great job but I just think if we are going to take the step then maybe Sean Dyche is not the man.
"He is a great manager, he has done wonders for the club. I think if we want to move to that next stage and finish in the top half constantly then I don't know, I think he has poor.
"We are a great Premier league side and I think we will be in the Premier League for a long time but where do we want to be in the Premier League, the top half or the bottom half?"
But Sutton was left flabbergasted by the opinion.
"I find this absolutely ridiculous," he said. "He (Dyche) has kept Burnley on a shoestring budget in the Premier League season in season out.
"I think he has done a fantastic job.
"He is working with the tools that he has and he is getting the most out of the players.
"I think if you are a Burnley fan then don't get too greedy and be careful what you wish for
"I just don't get the criticism of Sean Dyche.
"I understand they are not pretty to watch but he over achieves and he has over achieved for such a long time there that I cannot believe that Burnley fans are calling for somebody else. What do they want? And what do they expect?"
