Seven members of The Walking Dead cast will be promoted to series regulars in season 10

BIG SHOTS

Set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse, it’s no surprise there’s a high turnover of characters as they battle against the walkers and rival factions for survival.

However, amongst the carnage there are a group of series regulars, who tend to dominate the long-range story arcs of the series.

For the most part, these characters are less likely to end up on the chopping block, although show bosses aren’t afraid to shake things up to keep viewers on their toes.

With season 10 kicking off next month, a new wave of promotions have been rolled out, with seven supporting characters now holding the role of series regulars.

Stepping into her father’s shoes is Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming), the only child star to receive a promotion.

Alpha’s daughter Lydia (Cassady McClincy) also got the title bump, seeking redemption in the fallout from her villainous mother.

From Magna’s group, Connie (Layren Ridloff), Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) and of course Magna herself (Nadia Hilker) all got the green light.

Alpha’s terrifying deputy Beta (Ryan Hurst) is also among the ranks, an appointment that comes after it was hinted he will be unmasked as a celebrity.

Finally, Jerry (Cooper Andrews), who has been a fan favourite since season 7, will also be getting promoted.

It looks like it’ll be a case of out with the old and in with the news, as Michonne (Danai Gurira) will be making her departure at the end of season 10.

However, before her exit she’ll be embarking on a romance with Ezekiel (Khary Payton), as evidenced by their kiss in the trailer.
