A total of 6,000 guests were invited to the event in recognition of their contributions to the community throughout Scotland.

Holyrood Week ended with Edward, known as Earl of Forfar, north of the border hosting an event for the Duke of Edinburgh at the Palace of Holyroodhouse throughout Scotland.

Sophie had previously opened up about her close relationship with her Iron Duke before her death last year.

Regarding her relationship with her father-in-law, the Countess said: "Cooking is what I love to talk to him.
